Two weekends ago, Jill and I met up with our friends Adam and Ashley for a mini couple shoot. Adam and Ashley are from Southern California, not too far from Jill’s hometown actually. We met via a mutual friend several months back and got to know each other over delicious Korean BBQ. Random facts about this awesome couple…Adam is a former Division I water polo player at UC Irvine and Ashley used to sell hermit crabs from a kiosk in the mall. They moved to Korea together two years ago to work as English teachers. Adam is teaching at a middle school (God help him!) and Ashley is at an elementary school like Jill and I. They are awesome people and we are thankful that we’ve gotten to know them.
We did the shoot near Dadaepo (an area about 20 mins from the island where we live) on a stretch of beach with giant rocks and a carpet of oyster shells. It’s one of my favorite locations in Busan and happens to also be the absolute best place to watch the sunset. So, we decided to meet at 5:30pm to take advantage of the great light that the setting Korean sun would give us. This was the first time Jill and I had worked together shooting a couple so I was interested to see how the dynamic would go. We spent about 2 hours shooting/chatting and had a blast. The only problem we ran into was leaving our bags too close to the incoming tide. Jill’s iPhone ended up in the drink, fully submerged for a good 10 minutes before we realized it. We performed emergency phone CPR (cry, pray, rice) but to no avail. RIP iPhone! There is a redeeming side to this story, however, and that is that Jill and I are really happy with how the images turned out, but more importantly, Adam and Ashley loved them. Here are a few of our favorites from the day.
